Bronx Mutual Aid Day: We Take Care of Us
We Take Care of Us
Yesterday at St. Mary’s Park, Bronx Mutual Aid, in collaboration with Bronx Anti-War, Bronx Jail Support, Boycott Bronx Native and Juventud Unida por la Independencia (JUPI) Bronx, showed what revolutionary love looks like in practice.
We distributed free food, free clothing, and free political education to our neighbors.
No cops.
No politicians.
No nonprofits.
Just the people taking care of each other.
From hot chili and tea to winter coats, shoes, professional clothing, hygiene supplies, tents, sleeping bags, and radical zines, our community showed up for itself. Neighbors shared what they had. Volunteers stood in the cold. Conversations were had. Literature was distributed. Power was built.
This was not charity.
This was not electoral politics.
This was not about waiting for Democrats to save us.
This was about building power in the Bronx.
It was anti-capitalism and anti-imperialism in action. It was a rejection of the lie that liberation comes from above. Liberation does not come from politicians, political parties, or the system that exploits us.
Liberation means we liberate ourselves.
Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and stood with us. We are building something real — rooted in the Bronx, rooted in solidarity, rooted in the belief that organized people can meet our own needs and fight for our own future.
